By the cigars they smoke, and the composers they love, ye shall know the texture of men’s souls. – John Galsworthy

Powerful. Bold. Full Body. Pretty much describes me. But I am referring to my dream “woman cave”. Cigars, Whiskey & a good glass of Cabernet Sauvignon are like a sweet escape for my soul. What better than a room to escape and indulge in some of life’s guilty pleasures.

Small Dining Spaces

Its been said, that decorating a NYC apartment is like playing expert level of Tetris. You have to piece together different sizes of furniture in a small space. Unless your bank account looks like Oprah Winfrey, you have minimal square footage to work with. I have always been the type of woman who loves the idea of having a massive dining table. There is nothing better than entertaining family & friends over a plate of delicious food. However, reality set in when I went apartment hunting recently. Most 1-bedroom apartments did not have space for a table larger than four seats. Accepting this reality, I found these marvelous small space dining room design ideas. Kiddos to Pinterest & West Elm!

Roomies who love to Entertain

One of my friends and I have been randomly apartment hunting in the city. We definitely have our work cut out for us when it comes to design. NYC apts can be tiny with the budget we have. To our luck, we found one 900 sq ft apartment we are absolutely in love with! We decided to test our luck and apply.

In the meantime we need some ideas for our humble abode. We love to entertain and relax for the most part. We are really into art, music, culture and love the black and white look. Here’s some inspo of what I’ve come up with so far.

Legacy, Olives and the Family Farmhouse

The region of Regraga, Chaidma, Morocco is where the Olive dream began. My father spent his summers as a kid visiting his aunts and uncles on their farmland. He was a city boy, who just wanted to play around under the sun and hang out with his cousins. Little did he know then, that this land would signify so much more for generations to come. Fast forward to 50-something years later, my dad who had a dream of giving back to the land his parents grew up on, has now become a reality. This design inspo is a personal journey from the eyes of his daughter, who is proud of her father and his heart. The simplest things in life, give us the greatest joy. From cherished memories, the love of family, and hard work, there lays pure happiness. Our farmland signifies all this and more. It started as a city boys dream, to now his kids legacy. In the past few years, we have begun our olive farm. We have planted roots in our ancestors land. We have dug life into this old forgotten land. We will build a farmhouse, to build new memories; to give back to those who have gone, and lay down a foundation for those to come. This is our legacy, this is our Chaidma.

The key for our farmhouse is to achieve a Tuscan meets Moroccan-Adobe style. Here are some images of what has inspired us so far…
