Moroccan Architecture & Design Inspo
Let me start off by saying, I am of Moroccan descent. So this post is slightly biased.
Growing up in New York, I was accustomed to high rise buildings, that seemed massive and intimidating from a child’s perspective. My parents took it upon themselves to give me a dose of cultural shock my first summer vacation abroad, that would change my life forever.
I can close my eyes now, and I am no longer in NYC winter… I feel the tender caress of the Moroccan summer heat upon my cheeks, smell the sweet savory aromas of Moroccan Cuisine filling the air, I can see the intricate patterns of the cool Zelliji as I run my hands run along the walls. The streets filled with people, walking about their daily activities, surrounded by stucco walls. Some white, others clay red, or that beautiful majorelle blue, that fills my soul with tranquility. From the array of Moorish arches, to the engraved large wooden doors, Morocco fills my every sense. Once a week, I will take you on a cultural Journey. My journey begins at home. Black & White to some may just be colors; while to others, it evokes a memory or an emotion. Personally when it comes to design, fashion, & architecture, it’s all about vibes. Black in Feng Shui is associated with water, and like water, it evokes power, mystery and calmness. Black is also both stylish and timeless as well. Now throw in white into the mix, and you have fresh, grand, modern chic. It’s also a perfect reflection of light, and lets be real, it goes with everything! With all these emotions, what is missing?
